Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer and manage all databases across multiple platforms such as MsSQL and MySQL.
- Monitor and enhance database performance to ensure optimal operation.
- Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans, including archiving and restoration processes.
- Implement database security measures and perform version upgrades.
- Manage database changes, patches, and updates.
- Perform regular tests and evaluations to maintain data security, privacy, and integrity.
- Monitor database performance, implement necessary changes, and apply new patches and versions as required.
- Maintain and monitor production (primary and secondary), test, and development databases.
- Provide support by assisting, troubleshooting, resolving, and coordinating database service availability issues, and escalate unresolved issues appropriately.
- Design, develop, and maintain Management Information Systems (MIS) and dashboards for various departments and management use.
- Provide Level 2 (L2) support, including troubleshooting, installation, configuration, and escalation for databases and data warehouses.
- Support issue resolution and update the status of assigned or logged issues on the Call Logging/Tracking System.
- Execute ICT-related business continuity plans (e.g., backup testing, restoration, and disaster recovery testing).
- Coordinate Disaster Recovery (DR) failover activities with relevant teams.
- Create and optimize complex query definitions to extract and analyze data efficiently.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Systems, or Computer Science from a recognized institution.
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience handling databases (SQL is mandatory) and Management Information Systems.
- Ability to write reports and perform calculations, with strong verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of platforms, databases, and utilities such as:
- UNIX / Linux / MS Windows Server
- Programming languages: Java, C++, JavaScript, PL-SQL, XML
- SQL, Oracle, and web technologies (e.g., J2EE, IIS, Apache)
- CISA Certification will be an added advantage.
