We are looking for a Debt Collection Project Manager to lead initiatives that improve the efficiency, scalability, and technological capabilities of our debt collection operations in Kenya.

This role sits at the intersection of operations, technology, and product development, and focuses on implementing systems, processes, and tools that help collection teams perform more effectively.

You will manage high-impact projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure new solutions are successfully deployed and integrated into day-to-day operations.

The successful candidate will also act as a Product Owner during development phases, helping translate operational needs into technology solutions and ensuring smooth implementation before transitioning them to operational teams.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Lead strategic projects that improve collection performance and operational efficiency.
  • Define project scope, timelines, and success metrics.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including IT, operations, and external partners.
  • Ensure successful implementation and transition of projects into daily operations.
  • Act as Product Owner for operational tools and system improvements.
  • Define product requirements, user stories, and workflows.
  • Work closely with development teams to prioritize features and ensure solutions meet operational needs.
  • Oversee testing, rollout, and operational handover.
  • Design and improve scalable operational processes for debt collection teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through technology and automation.
  • Establish clear operational procedures and standards for collection activities.
  • Monitor operational KPIs and project outcomes.
  • Use data insights to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Implement solutions that improve collection performance and operational productivity.
  • Support initiatives such as:
  • Implementing digital tools that enhance communication with clients.
  • Optimizing call center and field collection processes.
  • Improving systems for portfolio monitoring and case tracking.
  • Developing scalable onboarding and training processes for collection agents.
  • Introducing automation and data-driven decision-making in collection operations.

Qualifications or requirements 

  • 3+ years of experience in project management, product management, operations improvement, or debt collection.
  • Experience working with technology teams or digital products.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate insights into operational improvements.
