Role Summary
The Dentist will provide comprehensive outpatient dental services, including diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care. The role requires a clinician who combines strong technical competence with a patient-centered approach and contributes to quality improvement and service growth within the dental unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct dental consultations, examinations, and diagnoses
- Perform routine and minor surgical dental procedures (e.g., extractions, restorations, scaling and polishing)
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Provide preventive oral health education and counseling to patients
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) standards and sterilization protocols
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records within the EMR system
- Collaborate with other clinicians for integrated patient care (e.g., referrals, co-management)
- Monitor and ensure proper use and maintenance of dental equipment and materials
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and case reviews
- Support the growth and efficiency of the dental service line
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from a recognized institution
- Registered and licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC)
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ clinical experience in a hospital or busy dental practice
- Competence in a wide range of general dental procedures; additional skills (e.g., endodontics, prosthodontics) are an advantage
- Familiarity with digital health systems / EMRs is an added advantage
