The Commission for University Education (CUE) established by the Universities Act Cap 210 Laws of Kenya is a state corporation mandated to assure quality of university education, training and research in Kenya. A beacon of excellence in the Kenyan university education landscape, the Commission is steadfastly upholding its mandate to promote, advance, and assure quality university education. To achieve these objectives CUE seeks to recruit dynamic, result-oriented, competent and self-driven individuals for the position listed below:
Terms of Employment
5 years Contract
Renewable subject to performance and retirement age
Responsibilities or duties
- Facilitating interviews with the media and the general public;
- Preparing media supplements, documentaries, press releases/media features;
- Posting relevant advertisements;
- Developing concepts for design of corporate branding;
- Facilitating printing of publicity materials;
- Mitigating departmental risk for identified risks;
- Overseeing all media activities for the Commission;
- Ensuring timely development of the Commission’s customer service charter, its implementation and evaluation to ensure services delivered to customers conform to set standards and timelines;
- Management and coordination of the Division including coaching and mentorship of Department staff;
- Representing the Chief Executive Officer in consultations with a diverse set of stakeholders; and
- Determining the quality of reports/information before publication and dissemination.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Person Specifications
- A minimum period of ten (10) years relevant work experience, five (5) years of which should be in a supervisory role;
- Bachelor’s degree in communications studies; or Journalism or Language & Literary Studies; or Public Relations; or Mass Communication; or Social Media Journalism; or Science Communication from a recognized institution;
- Master’s Degree in Communications Studies; or Journalism or Language & Literary Studies; or Public Relations; or Mass Communication; or Social Media, Journalism; or Science Communication from a recognized institution;
- Membership to a relevant professional body such as the Chartered Commission of Public Relations (CIPR);
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks, or equivalent, from a recognized institution;
- Proficiency in computer applications;
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and
- Met the requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
Key Competencies and Skills
- Communication skills;
- Interpersonal skills;
- Organizational skills;
- Editing skills;
- Strategic thinking; and
- Negotiation skills.

The Successful candidates will be required to provide the following documents before the award of offer in compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010:
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
- Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
- Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
- Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
- Clearance Certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
