Requirements for Appointment
- Must be a Kenyan Citizen
- Bachelors’ degree in mining and mineral processing engineering from a University recognized in Kenya.
- MUST have a post graduate Diploma in Gemology
- MUST have been served in the public service for a period not less than 7 years preferably in the Mining sector as a senior County Inspector of Mines.
- MUST have served for a minimum of 2 years as a County Senior Superintending Inspector of Mines
- MUST have training in GIS and Remote Sensing preferably in mines and geology.
- Must be registered with a professional body/Association.
- Must be a County gazetted inspector of mines.
- Excellent in written and verbal communications and team leadership and interpersonal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the licensing, regulation, and enforcement of mining operations.
- Ensure safe and sustainable extraction of minerals.
- Develop and implement mining safety protocols.
- Coordinate the rehabilitation of mined land.
- Monitor mineral production and revenue generation.
- Provide training and awareness to miners on safety standards, hazard control, and emergency response.
- Mapping and monitoring County mining zones
