Deputy Director Mining Operation Division

Requirements for Appointment

• Must be a Kenyan Citizen
• Bachelors’ degree in mining and mineral processing engineering from a University recognized in Kenya.
• MUST have a post graduate Diploma in Gemology
• MUST have been served in the public service for a period not less than 7 years preferably in the Mining sector as a senior County Inspector of Mines.
• MUST have served for a minimum of 2 years as a County Senior Superintending Inspector of Mines
• MUST have training in GIS and Remote Sensing preferably in mines and geology.
• Must be registered with a professional body/Association.
• Must be a County gazetted inspector of mines.
• Excellent in written and verbal communications and team leadership and interpersonal skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee the licensing, regulation, and enforcement of mining operations.
• Ensure safe and sustainable extraction of minerals.
• Develop and implement mining safety protocols.
• Coordinate the rehabilitation of mined land.
• Monitor mineral production and revenue generation.
• Provide training and awareness to miners on safety standards, hazard control, and emergency response.
• Mapping and monitoring County mining zones
