DEPUTY PRINCIPAL – HISTORY / CRE / OTHER TEACHING COMBINATION

Job Purpose

St. Christopher Girls Senior School is seeking a committed, experienced, and values-driven educator to serve as Deputy Principal. The successful candidate will support the Principal in the overall administration and management of the school while also contributing to teaching and learning in History, CRE, or another suitable subject combination.

The role requires a strong commitment to Catholic values, academic excellence, learner discipline, staff development, and the holistic growth of students.

Key Responsibilities

School Administration & Leadership

  • Assist the Principal in the day-to-day administration and management of the school.
  • Support the implementation of school policies, programmes, and strategic objectives.
  • Supervise teaching and non-teaching staff as delegated by the Principal.
  • Coordinate academic programmes, timetables, examinations, and other school activities.
  • Monitor teaching standards, lesson preparation, learner performance, and curriculum implementation.
  • Assist in maintaining high standards of discipline among learners and staff.
  • Support staff meetings, departmental activities, and professional development programmes.
  • Assist in maintaining effective communication between school management, teachers, learners, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of school improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate records and administrative reports are maintained.
  • Promote a safe, orderly, respectful, and supportive school environment.
  • Represent the Principal when delegated or when required.
  • Perform other leadership and administrative duties assigned by the Principal.

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach History, CRE, or another suitable subject combination according to the teacher's qualifications.
  • Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, teaching resources, assignments, and assessments.
  • Assess learners and monitor their academic progress.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to learners.
  • Prepare learners for relevant internal and external examinations.
  • Promote critical thinking, good citizenship, moral development, and positive values.
  • Participate in co-curricular activities and other academic programmes.

Pastoral & Values-Based Responsibilities

  • Promote the Catholic ethos, values, and mission of the school.
  • Support learners' spiritual, moral, social, and personal development.
  • Encourage discipline, integrity, respect, responsibility, and compassion.
  • Support school religious activities and faith-based programmes.
  • Serve as a positive role model to learners and staff.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant teaching and educational leadership qualifications from a recognized institution.
  • Strong teaching background in History, CRE, or another suitable teaching combination.
  • Demonstrated experience in school leadership, administration, or coordination will be an advantage.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school management, staff, learners, parents, and the wider community.

Essential Requirement

  • Must be a devout Catholic Christian.
