Introduction

At CIVICUS, the global civil society alliance, we know the power of compelling design and layout to tell great stories, and communicate research and information in visually attractive, audience-appealing ways to support our work to protect the rights to speak out, organise, and take action. We are looking for graphic designers, layout specialists, and illustrators who can translate our knowledge and communications into digestible, informative productions that appeal to our global alliance.

Location: Remote

Duration: July 2026-June 2028

Type of contract arrangement: Services commissioned on an as-needed basis. Volume of work can fluctuate over course of consultancy.

Scope

The purpose of this consultancy is to provide graphic design and illustrations for a wide variety of communications products. The consultancy will include (but not be limited to) the layout and design of reports, infographics, event flyers, presentations, illustrations, multi-media packs. The consultancy will be coordinated by the Communications department but will involve working with a wide variety of departments in the organisation.

On average, it is estimated that the designer and illustrator will receive between 5-10 items a month. The successful applicant will be added to CIVICUS’ Preferred Supplier List and may receive additional requests which can be assessed based on relevance and availability.

Your Quotes

We are looking for quotes for a collection of our communications products. The examples provided below are only for reference purposes. Consultants are welcome to supply quotes for all or any combination of the following visual products:

• 40-page report x 3 languages
• Populating existing design templates, while making slight design tweaks to ensure individual reports have a unique look and feel.
• Multi-media packs to promote new materials on social media (graphics optimised for Twitter, Instagram and Facebook)
• Flyers for events
• Data infographics for presentations and reports
• Etc

CIVICUS will supply translations & access to photobanks for each production

Application exercise

To help promote and encourage people to take part in CIVICUS campaigns, please produce a selection of the following, feel free to invent a campaign or create design materials from current CIVICUS projects:

• Ready to post Facebook, Twitter and Instagram graphics
• Infographics communicating key information, findings, data
• A short designed report
• A visual case study
• A multi-media asset (short video, gif, etc)

Special features and added skills

Please also provide quotes if you can offer the following features either as part of, or to contribute to the above.

• Bespoke illustrations

A hand drawn illustration is a powerful and authentic way to communicate a message. Please provide us with estimated costs for providing bespoke illustrations. For examples of illustrations we have collaborated to produce before, see: CIVICUS Monitor 2023 findings

• Interactive publications (Such as the youth playbook)

More and more CIVICUS is turning to interactive publications to encourage more engagement with our content. If you have experience producing interactive online publications, or interactive PDF publications, please include this as part of your quote. Likewise
