Execute, analyze, and optimize real-time plant operations and grid dispatch activities. Ensure safe, efficient, and reliable power generation and dispatch. Support operational decision-making, incident analysis, and performance improvement. Operate under the direction of the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities or duties
Operations and Dispatch Execution:
- Dispatch power according to system technical descriptions and approved procedures.
- Monitor plant parameters including alarms, meters, charts, and gauges.
- Execute start-up, shutdown, and switching of generators and equipment.
- Adjust operational controls based on grid requirements from KPLC.
- Respond to dispatch instructions and operational directives.
Monitoring, Reporting and Data Management:
- Conduct routine monitoring of equipment and operational parameters.
- Detect early signs of malfunction or abnormal operation.
- Record operational data, alarms, and events in shift logs.
- Maintain accurate equipment history records.
- Prepare and distribute operational and dispatch reports.
Maintenance and Engineering Support:
- Coordinate with maintenance teams during outages.
- Support implementation of maintenance schedules.
- Provide input for incident investigations and lessons learned.
- Assist engineering teams with operational data.
Safety Compliance and Procedures:
- Comply with Kenyan regulatory requirements and PPA obligations.
- Follow internal operating procedures and dispatch protocols.
- Adhere to Work Permit systems and LOTO (Lock-Out/Tag-Out) procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions, abnormal events, and deviations.
- Ensure compliance with LTWP HSE policies and Golden Rules.
- Promote operational safety, availability, and efficiency.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Power Engineering

- Bachelor's Degree in Production Engineering
- Related engineering field
- Recognized institution
Experience needed
Minimum Years:
- 3 years in relevant power plant operations or dispatch environments
Preferred Experience:
- Grid-connected generation facilities
