Responsibilities or duties

• Class teaching
• Role modeling, guidance and counseling, mentoring and motivation of the leaners.
• Preparing reports
• Ensuring the safety and security of the leaners
• Organizing and facilitating play learning activities to enable ECDE children cope with school life
• Caring and nurturing spiritual, social, mental, moral, physical, aesthetic and emotional growth of learners (holistic development)
• Managing the ECDE classes and keeping professional and administrative records (schemes of work, lesson plans, daily program of activities, attendance register etc.
• Preparing and developing play and learning materials
• Organizing community mobilization meetings on ECDE programmes
• Provide guidance to ECDE Children and parents on curriculum matters

Qualifications or requirements

• KCSE certificate minimum grade D+
• Certificate in ECDE from KNEC/MOE or other recognized institution.
• A Diploma Certificate will be an added advantage
• Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission
• Certificate in computer applications and a First Aid Certificate
• Certificate in Kenya Sign language Interpretation for applicants applying to Iten school for the deaf.
