Maryjoy School was founded in 1998 as a Nursery School, expanded to Primary in 2001 and Junior secondary school in 2023. Our educational program caters to all students.. Our specialized and individualized curriculum caters to students of all abilities, from students of determination to gifted and talented students. The size of the school and the limited numbers ensure that a friendly atmosphere is maintained and that the children’s individual abilities and potential are fully appreciated .In keeping with the school’s mottos the main objective of the school is to inspire and motivate children in both their academic achievements and their personal growth and character.
This teacher specializes in English Language and Literature, developing students' language proficiency and literary appreciation.
Responsibilities
English Responsibilities:
- Develop Language Skills: Teach listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, building vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension.
- Writing Skills: Guide students in essay writing, creative writing, summaries, and formal correspondence.
- Oral Communication: Develop effective speaking and listening skills for presentations, debates, and everyday interactions.
- Exam Preparation: Prepare students for KNEC English Language examinations.
Literature Responsibilities:
- Teach Literary Texts: Introduce students to a range of literary works (prose, poetry, and drama) from Kenya, Africa, and around the world.
- Analytical Skills: Guide students in analyzing themes, character development, plot structure, and literary devices.
- Critical Thinking: Develop students' ability to interpret texts, form arguments, and appreciate diverse perspectives.
- Exam Preparation: Prepare students for KNEC English Literature examinations.
General Teaching Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons catering to different learning styles and abilities.
- Set, administer, and mark tests, assignments, and examinations, providing constructive feedback.
- Maintain a positive, orderly, and safe classroom environment.
- Maintain accurate student records and communicate with parents/guardians on student progress.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Must be Registered by TSC
- Must have at least 3 yrs Experience in Teaching
- Knowledge in ICT is an added advantage
- Excellent communication and writting skills
- Most be CBE & CBC Compliant
- Holder of a P1 Certificate or an Upgrades Diploma in Education
- Willing to contribute in co-curricular activities
