Background

Maryjoy School was founded in 1998 as a Nursery School, expanded to Primary in 2001 and Junior secondary school in 2023. Our educational program caters to all students.. Our specialized and individualized curriculum caters to students of all abilities, from students of determination to gifted and talented students. The size of the school and the limited numbers ensure that a friendly atmosphere is maintained and that the children’s individual abilities and potential are fully appreciated .In keeping with the school’s mottos the main objective of the school is to inspire and motivate children in both their academic achievements and their personal growth and character.

Responsibilities

This teacher delivers lessons across English, General Science, and Agriculture, integrating language skills with scientific and practical knowledge.

English Responsibilities:

• Develop Language Skills: Teach listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, building vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension.
• Literature: Introduce students to prose, poetry, and drama, developing analytical and interpretive skills.
• Writing Skills: Guide students in essay writing, creative writing, and formal correspondence.
• Oral Communication: Develop effective speaking and listening skills for presentations and debates.

General Science Responsibilities:

• Teach Core Science Topics: Cover fundamental concepts in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
• Practical Experiments: Conduct simple laboratory experiments and demonstrations to reinforce theoretical concepts.
• Health Education: Teach topics on nutrition, disease prevention, and personal hygiene.

Agriculture Responsibilities:

• Teach Crop and Animal Production: Cover topics on crop cultivation, soil management, and animal husbandry.
• Practical Skills: Conduct hands-on farming activities on the school farm.
• Environmental Awareness: Teach sustainable farming practices and environmental conservation.

General Teaching Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons catering to different learning styles and abilities.
• Set, administer, and mark tests, assignments, and examinations, providing constructive feedback.
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and safe classroom environment.
• Maintain accurate student records and communicate with parents/guardians on student progress.

Qualifications/Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Must be Registered by TSC
• Must have at least 3 yrs
• Experience in Teaching
• Knowledge in ICT is an added advantage
• Excellent communication and writting skills
• Most be CBE & CBC Compliant
• Holder of a P1 Certificate or an Upgrades Diploma in Education
• Willing to contribute in co-curricular activities
