This position will effectively implement predictive, preventive and breakdown maintenance schedules at the plant for all electrical and mechanical machines, equipment and plant facilities for maximum efficiency and longer machine lifespan.

Key Responsibilities:

Plant Maintenance

  • Process, plan, implement and control, review and adjust a maintenance schedule for the job
  • Preventive and condition-based maintenance of machines as per laid down instructions and procedures to ensure smooth running
  • Trouble shooting Electrical equipment and machine failures by inspection and testing and prescribing corrective action and reinstating it back to its working condition
  • Ensure efficient machine operations during shift cover
  • Inspection of machines operations and recording of data such as pressures, temperatures, scale accuracy, power consumption and running hours etc. to ascertain smooth operation or service requirements
  • Initiating purchase requisition for machine spare parts for maintenance
  • Identify and report all assets misuse (e.g. machines, spares, tools, etc.)
  • Machine modification, improvement and innovation to improve efficiency
  • Maintenance checks on building structure and facilities
  • Basic maintenance of plant utilities (Generators, Compressors etc.)
  • Support maintenance of building, facility and machines at the Central Support Office
  • Any other assigned duties by the supervisor

Administrative Support

  • Coordinate daily tasks to Electrical teams
  • Ensure timely Logging in details of work performed on data records to enable further action, and planning
  • Review all machine data recorded relating to operation and inspection of machines and draft relevant reports for decision making.
  • Review data captured on job cards for accuracy and tracking performance.

PaTaMu

  • Support SHE, ERM, 6K, PaTaMu, GMP/FSMS initiatives and objectives
  • Manage and support SHE initiatives and objectives in the electrical section.
  • Support and train AM team members
  • Identify and address all quality and food safety issues during daily operations.
  • Improve operational efficiencies through PaTaMu projects and initiatives.
  • Identify process challenges & use PDCA to address bottlenecks.
  • Support activities around Unga’s culture code – FIRST.

Communication & Accountability

  • Improve on process accountability of electrical team members through F2F discussions
  • Ensure effective communication and administration of company policies.
  • Participate in conflict resolution and escalate the chronic issues that require urgent attention.

Qualifications

  • BSc Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge in predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance and electrical installations
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a busy manufacturing company
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) skills & Scada will be an added advantage.
  • Competent in troubleshooting, problem solving, team building, planning and decision making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent People Management skills
