Kwale Water is seeking an Environment, Social Health and Safety (ESHS) Officer.
Responsibilities or duties
Assist in Regulatory Compliance:
- Keep abreast of local, state, and national environmental, social, health, and safety regulations.
- Support the ESHS Officer in ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to ESHS activities.
- Assist in preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Environment Health & Safety Training and Awareness:
- Assist in organizing and conducting training sessions for employees on safety and environmental practices.
- Conduct Safety Awareness Talks to employees ranging from use of PPEs to operation of the water treatment plants,
- Promote awareness of ESHS policies and guidelines throughout the organization.
Health and Safety Incident Response:
- Participate in the development and implementation of emergency response and incident management procedures.
- Assist in investigating and documenting incidents, accidents, or near-miss events.
Environmental Management:
- Support in the development and execution of environmental programs, including waste management and pollution control.
- Monitor and report on environmental performance metrics.
Social Responsibility:
- Assist in managing community and stakeholder relations related to ESHS matters.
- Engage in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives when applicable.
GIS Data Collection
- Work with GIS Expert to collect and collate all digital data for the company,
- Use of the Kobo Collect Tool to update ongoing project to ensure remote supervision by the World Bank
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Requirements for Appointment
- Be a Kenyan Citizen
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, occupational health and safety, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of environmental, social, health, and safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Good organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Knowledge of relevant software tools for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required.
- Commitment to promoting a culture of safety and sustainability within the organization.
Personal Qualities, Skills and Competencies
- Integrity and professionalism.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Team player with a high level of initiative.
- High ethical standards and accountability.
Experience needed
- Have at least three (3) years' experience in ESHS programs and experience in Doner funded projects.

- Registration as Associate Member to the National Environment Management Authority and the Environment Institute of Kenya is an added advantage,
