Responsibilities or duties,
Organizational Leadership
Lead LWF’s Strategic Plan delivery, positioning the organization as the leading membership-based development and conservation organization in the Greater Laikipia landscape.
Secure consistent and strategic programmatic relations with County governments within the landscape on issues of common concern, e.g., community development, security, wildlife, water, rangelands, conservation education, tourism and land-use.
Strategic Planning and Execution
Oversee the institutional operating budget.
Lead fundraising efforts to attract new partnerships and financial support for members' initiatives and to cover the core operational costs of the Forum.
Continue to expand and diversify funding resources to ensure fiscal soundness. This includes mobilizing resources from international, regional and local donors including multilateral organizations, implementing partners, UN agencies, other INGOs and NGOs, corporates, and foundations.
Forge long-lasting partnerships with LWF’s implementing partners in the Upper Ewaso Ng'iro Basin.
Fundraising and Partnerships
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills),
Advanced (Master’s and above) degree in Conservation, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science/Studies, Wildlife Management, not-for-profit development, organizational and/or business management or related field.
Proven leadership and strategic skills, and management experience as demonstrated in similar efforts, including programme, project and financial administration.
Demonstrated commitment to building governance and programming capacity among members and their representative bodies.
Demonstrated excellence in dealing with county, national, and international government representatives and counterparts.
Proven success in securing and managing funds from diverse sources/donors including grant-writing, corporates, foundations, philanthropists, among others.
Experience working with a Board of Directors and establishing multi-stakeholder relationships.
Demonstrated skills and commitment to Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM).
Prior familiarity with the Laikipia landscape, its partners and key actors.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse and cosmopolitan membership with diverse landscape interests.
Experience needed,
Proven leadership and strategic skills, and management experience as demonstrated in similar efforts, including programme, project and financial administration.
Experience working with a Board of Directors and establishing multi-stakeholder relationships.
Prior familiarity with the Laikipia landscape, its partners and key actors.
