External Debt Management and Collection Officer

Are you passionate about driving financial recovery, negotiating outcomes, and ensuring accountability? As a leading law firm we are seeking a results-driven External Debt Management & Collections Officer to join its growing team.

What You'll Do

  • Execute debt recovery activities on behalf of clients, using calls, emails, letters, and field visits to engage debtors and secure payments.
  • Conduct skip tracing, investigations, and background checks to locate debtors and assess their financial capacity.
  • Negotiate repayment arrangements while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
  • Generate and share debt collection status reports with clients and internal teams, detailing payments, balances, and follow-up actions.
  • Raise and submit fee notes within 72 hours of successful recovery and coordinate with the Finance team for timely billing and reconciliation.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all debt collection laws, consumer protection regulations, and confidentiality policies.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, providing updates, insights, and recommendations on performing, unrecoverable, and escalated debts.
  • Collaborate with the Dispute Resolution Department to escalate cases requiring litigation.

What We're Looking For

  • Diploma or Degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in external debt collection or credit recovery services.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills with a persuasive communication style.
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent documentation and reporting skills.
  • High levels of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently, meet targets, and handle multiple portfolios efficiently.
