They provide independent academic evaluation of examinations, marking standards and student performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing examination papers and assessment materials.
  • Evaluating the suitability of examinations for the relevant academic programmes.
  • Reviewing marked scripts and assessment decisions.
  • Providing independent observations on academic standards.
  • Assessing whether marking has been fair, consistent and appropriate.
  • Preparing external examination reports for the university.
  • Recommending improvements to assessment methods where necessary.
  • Participating in examination board processes when required.
  • Supporting the maintenance of academic quality and integrity.
  • Reviewing the alignment between course content and examination questions.
  • Providing professional feedback to departments and the Registrar’s Office.
  • Maintaining confidentiality throughout the examination process.
