FINANCE ASSISTANT
OVERVIEW
The Finance Assistant is responsible for overseeing daily financial operations, supporting accurate financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and statutory requirements. This role involves supervising junior finance staff, coordinating transactional processes, and providing support to management in financial planning and analysis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Operations & Reporting.
- Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, and payroll processing.
- Review and verify accuracy of financial documents and entries prepared by junior staff.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure timely posting of financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Supervision & Team Support.
- Provide guidance, training, and supervision to finance clerks and assistants.
- Allocate and monitor tasks to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Review work outputs and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Support capacity building and mentoring within the finance team.
- Compliance & Controls.
- Budgeting & Analysis.
- Stakeholder Support.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- CPA/ACCA certification (minimum Section 4 or equivalent) is an added advantage.
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in finance/accounting, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, ERP systems).
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, tax, and statutory compliance.
- Advanced Excel and MS Office skills.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
