Browns Plantations Kenya Limited is based in Kericho and Bomet counties. It has over 5,000 hectares of tea and over 2,000 hectares of forestry. There are four tea factories, nine tea estates, a sawmill, and forestry operations.

We invite applications for Factory Machine Operators within the Tea Estates Division, Browns Plantations Kenya Limited (formerly James Finlay Kenya Limited).
These are Grade 3 Positions.
The Job
Reporting to the Factory Assistant, the job holder will be responsible for running and maintaining machinery in the assigned section of the process network to achieve the set target.
Key Responsibilities
- Running the machinery in the process network as assigned
- Attending to machinery breakdowns expeditiously and calling for assistance where necessary
- Maintaining the stipulated manufacturing parameters
- Complying with accredited systems e.g. ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety, EHS, Rainforest Alliance (RA), Fairtrade (FT), Organic Soil Association (SA) and ensuring total compliance with their policies and procedures
- Being conversant with Continuous Improvement programs and implementing all principles therein
- Ensuring that all employees in the section are clocking in/out correctly as per procedure
- Ensuring optimum use of available resources through proper allocation of labour
- Ensuring compliance with all Food Safety Management System requirements
- Liaising with quality control personnel to ensure production parameters are met to avoid production of out-of-spec products
- Updating and maintaining all documentation in the section
- Responsible for safety and health of self, other employees, and equipment in the section by adhering to safe operations and highlighting any safety issues that arise
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Craft in Mechanical Engineering (preferably plant option) or equivalent
- At least 1 year experience in a busy Tea Factory
- Computer literate
- Excellent communication skills
- Good organising and planning skills
- Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
- Must be a team player
