The Activation Officer plays a central role in scaling Avenews’ training and education through high-impact activations, training sessions, and on-ground pitches. This role is responsible for increasing the volume, efficiency, and quality of all field activities, including partner sessions, product pitches, expos, conferences, and local marketing activations. This is a hands-on position requiring frequent field travel, strong presentation and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate and execute multiple activities simultaneously. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, confident in speaking to groups, and deeply comfortable working in the field.

Responsibilities or duties

Planning & Coordination of Field Activities

  • Work closely with the Partnership & Field Activity Manager and Field Officers to plan and schedule trainings, activations, and pitch sessions across regions.
  • Coordinate logistics for events, including venue setup, materials, equipment, and participant mobilization.
  • Maintain an activity calendar to ensure smooth sequencing of field engagements, trainings, and community events.

Training & On-Ground Pitches/ Educationals

  • Deliver clear and engaging educational sessions to agri-SMEs, partners, groups, communities, and networks.
  • Conduct product pitches in the field to introduce Avenews solutions to potential customers and partners.
  • Support penetrating new value chains through targeted trainings, tailored educationals, and value-chain-specific events and engagements.
  • Tailor training content to different audiences based on their level of understanding, needs, and operating context.

Marketing Activations & Events

  • Execute localized marketing activations, brand visibility activities, and engagement events to build awareness and trust.
  • Represent Avenews in expos, conferences, roadshows, and community gatherings.
  • Coordinate booth setup, staff scheduling, demonstrations, and customer interactions during events.

Collaboration With Field & HQ Teams

  • Work hand in hand with Field Officers to identify high-potential areas and community-based opportunities.
  • Support Sales and BizDev during field activities with materials, presentations, and local mobilization.
  • Provide feedback from the field to improve training content, marketing messaging, and engagement processes.

Reporting & Performance Tracking

  • Track attendance, engagement levels, and outcomes of each training and activation.
  • Report weekly on completed activities, learnings, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Identify ways to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and impact of field activities.

How the Role Supports Sales

  • Generates warm leads through activations and trainings.
  • Educate potential customers, improving their understanding before Sales arrive.
  • Provides insights to improve targeting and conversion.

How the Role Supports BizDev

  • Delivering product and partnership training sessions to partners’ employees, customers, and networks.
  • Executing and representing Avenews at expos, conferences, and partner events when needed.
  • Providing BizDev with post-training insights on partner interest, capacity, gaps, and readiness.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Experience needed

2–4 years’ experience in field activations, training, community engagement, product demonstrations, or sales support—preferably in agriculture, fintech, or FMCG.

Skills

  • Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills.
  • Experience running on-ground activations, events, or outreach programs.
  • Ability to manage logistics, coordinate teams, and handle multiple field activities.
  • Comfortable with extensive travel and fieldwork.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Swahili; local languages are an advantage.
  • Organized, reliable, energetic, and comfortable working with diverse communities.

Education

  • BA/BSc/HND
