Responsibilities or duties

Act as the field-based operational lead and primary interface for drilling contractors and well services providers, including cementing, MWD/LWD, directional drilling, completion services, perforation, and stimulation teams. Coordinate and deconflict daily and weekly drilling and well services operations in collaboration with onshore engineering teams, operations teams, and contractor supervisors. Oversee field logistics and supply chain operations, including rig mobilization and demobilization, tubulars, equipment, fuel, water, materials, camp services, waste management, and spare parts availability. Ensure contractors comply with contractual obligations, KPIs, operational procedures, and HSSEQ requirements, including performance monitoring, audits, and corrective action management. Lead field-level planning activities including HAZID/HAZOP participation, permit-to-work systems, pre-spud meetings, and toolbox talks, ensuring strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Oversee well control readiness, BOP integrity, and pressure control systems while ensuring crew competency, certification compliance, and operational readiness. Monitor drilling performance, well progress, NPT drivers, and cost performance, providing real-time intervention and recommending optimization measures. Coordinate maintenance, inspection, and availability of critical field equipment to ensure operational continuity and minimize downtime. Maintain accurate operational records and ensure timely reporting of well progress, incidents, and performance updates to management. Manage interfaces between drilling, well services, logistics, procurement, camp services, and regulatory stakeholders in the field environment. Lead incident response, investigation, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with relevant teams. Support contract management processes including scope clarifications, variations, and commercial interface coordination with procurement and contract teams. Perform any other duties as assigned to support safe and efficient well delivery operations.

Qualifications or requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent extensive industry experience will be considered. Well Control Certification (IWCF/IADC or equivalent) and relevant safety certifications such as H2S and Permit-to-Work training are required. Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making capabilities in high-pressure field environments. Ability to manage multi-disciplinary, multi-national teams in remote rotational operations. Strong understanding of HSSEQ standards, operational risk management, and incident investigation processes.

Experience needed

Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in upstream oil & gas operations, with significant exposure to onshore drilling operations and well services execution. Proven experience in supervisory or leadership roles such as Drilling Superintendent, Operations Supervisor, Tool pusher, or equivalent field leadership positions. Strong experience in field logistics, supply chain coordination, and remote operations support within upstream environments. Demonstrated experience managing contractors, monitoring KPIs, enforcing compliance, and driving operational performance improvements.
