JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Head of Finance & Strategy, the Finance Assistant will support the Finance Department in ensuring efficient financial operations through timely reconciliations, accounts payable management, financial record maintenance, statutory compliance, and financial reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Verify goods received against approved purchase orders and supporting documentation.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with vendors and service providers.
  • Perform reconciliations of assigned ledger accounts and follow up on outstanding items for timely resolution.
  • Investigate and reconcile financial discrepancies through collection and analysis of account information.
  • Maintain proper filing and custody of finance-related records and documentation.
  • Filing of statutory returns (Customer/suppliers)
  • Process staff imprests and operational claims in accordance with approved policies.
  • Verification of vendor documents: purchase orders, prices, terms of payment and other charges on documents.
  • Managing accounts payable using core banking system
  • Handling accounts payable for separate entities and vendors
  • Ensuring bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures.
  • Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling Payable Ledgers
  • Maintain vendor statements and daily financial transactions.
  • Uploading of Forex rates and communication to branches
  • Preparation of account balances and liquidity reports CIT cheque processing
  • To perform any other duty as assigned in line with the organization goals and objective.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Education -University degree in Accounting, Commerce, Economics or Business Management/Administration or related business degree (MUST).
  • CPA Intermediate Level or CPA Section IV qualification (MUST).
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting firm/financial institution.
  • Proficiency in Advanced Excel spreadsheet.
