Oxford University Press offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various finance functions including data analysis, budgeting, reporting, and market research. The intern will support the finance team in delivering key insights and maintaining financial accuracy while gaining exposure to corporate finance, investment banking, and financial planning.
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Commercial and Business Performance Analyst in Nairobi.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Data Analysis
- Assist in analysing financial data to identify trends, variances, and insights that support business decisions and investment opportunities.
 
2. Reporting 
- Assist in preparing financial reports and presentations for internal meetings and senior management including but not limited to weekly sales reports, Daily sales tracker, monthly overhead schedules, turnover pack and monthly reporting pack
 
3. Budgeting, Planning and Forecasting
- Support the budgeting process by gathering relevant data and contributing to financial models and forecasts.
 
4. Auditing Support
- Assist in internal and external audit processes by compiling necessary documentation and preparing audit reports. Supporting the execution of internal control framework tests (ICF).
 
5. Market Research 
- Assist to conduct research on industry trends, competitor performance, and market developments to support strategic planning.
 
6. Investments
- Assist in evaluation of the return on investment (ROI) of front list titles and ensure effective management of first costs.
 
Requirements
 Qualifications and Experience
- Completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
 
- Qualified accountant CPA(K), CFA or ACCA.
 
- Proficiency in MS 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
 
Attributes:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
 
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
 
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
 
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
 
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
