Job Profile
The Finance & Investment Manager is responsible for overseeing financial management, investment strategy, compliance, and administrative functions to ensure financial sustainability, efficiency, and optimal returns on investments. The role requires strong leadership, risk management, and financial acumen to support Caritas Nairobi’s strategic goals. The finance and investment manager will report to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, review, and ensure adherence to Caritas Nairobi’s financial policies, donor regulations, and tax laws.
- Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Accounting Standards (IAS).
- Develop risk management strategies to mitigate financial exposure and enhance financial controls.
- Facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of audit recommendations.
- Oversee investment portfolio management, ensuring growth with minimal exposure to risk.
- Conduct financial analysis, market research, and due diligence to identify investment opportunities.
- Lead negotiations of term sheets, investment agreements, and contracts.
- Monitor asset allocation and provide performance reports for decision-making.
- Lead the preparation and consolidation of of the organizational budget, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Provide financial reports, including management accounts, to the Board of Directors.
- Support program heads and budget holders in financial planning and cost allocation.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance and investment team.
- Organize training programs to build financial and investment literacy within the team
- Implement financial monitoring tools and internal controls.
- Ensure effective utilization of financial resources in line with donor guidelines.
- Maintain relationships with banks, investment partners, and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or its equivalent
- Certified Public Accountant, CPA(K)
- Certified Investment & Financial Analyst (CIFA) or other Investment Certification
- Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
- Active member of ICPAK in good standing
Experience
- At least seven (7) years’ experience in a senior finance leadership position
- Demonstrated experience in investment portfolio management, financial analysis, and identification of viable investment opportunities with strong risk management practices.
- Experience in developing and implementing financial controls, risk management frameworks, and compliance systems in line with IFRS, IAS, donor regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Experience in donor fund management, grants management, and financial reporting for donor-funded projects and programs.
- Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management with banks, auditors, investment partners, regulatory bodies, donors, and Boards of Directors.
- Proven experience in preparation and presentation of Board financial reports, investment performance reports, and strategic financial recommendations.
