Job Overview:

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the strategic financial management of the hospital, ensuring the integrity of financial operations, compliance with regulations, and alignment with organizational objectives. The ideal candidate will provide financial leadership, advise on sustainable growth strategies, and implement robust financial policies to safeguard the hospital's resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Oversee preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Monitor hospital revenue, expenses, and cash flow to maintain financial stability.
  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the CEO and Board.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Develop and manage the hospital’s annual budget.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts to guide operational and strategic decisions.
  • Analyze budget variances and recommend corrective actions.

Financial Strategy & Planning:

  • Collaborate with the executive team to align financial planning with the hospital’s long-term goals.
  • Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and sustainable growth.

Compliance & Audit Management:

  • Ensure financial operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and donor requirements.
  • Coordinate both internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.

Risk Management & Internal Controls:

  • Develop and implement financial policies and internal controls to safeguard hospital assets.
  • Assess and mitigate financial risks, ensuring continuity of operations.

Grant & Donor Funds Management:

  • Manage donor funding and grants, ensuring compliance with donor agreements.
  • Track fund utilization and prepare financial reports for donors and partners.

Team Leadership & Capacity Building:

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise the finance team.
  • Provide financial training to non-financial staff to enhance budget discipline.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent) is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role, preferably in healthcare or the non-profit sector.
  • Solid understanding of financial management software and ERP systems.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and healthcare financial models.
  • Experience with donor-funded projects and grant management.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Leadership and team management skills with a collaborative mindset.
