Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Finance Officer to support the organization's financial operations and ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting or finance, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy and integrity.
This role is suited to an individual who is proactive, organized, and capable of supporting sound financial management while contributing to operational efficiency and business growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the organization's day-to-day financial operations, including invoicing, payments, reconciliations, payroll, and cash flow.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and management reports.
- Develop, monitor, and review budgets, forecasts, and financial performance against approved targets.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax legislation, statutory requirements, and internal financial policies.
- Maintain accurate financial records and oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support strategic planning and business decision-making.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns and support tax planning and regulatory compliance.
- Liaise with external auditors, accountants, financial institutions, and regulatory authorities on financial matters.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Provide financial guidance on budgeting, costing, forecasting, and resource allocation to support operational and business objectives.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- CPA foundation level (or equivalent accounting qualification).
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, including formulas, pivot tables, formatting, and basic reporting.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Drive, and Gmail).
- Working knowledge of Kenyan tax requirements, including VAT and Withholding Tax.
- Experience in account reconciliations, invoice validation, and verification against contracts and agreed rates.
- Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage high transaction volumes.
- Excellent ability to learn new systems quickly, think critically to solve complex financial problems, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA-K certification or active progression beyond CPA foundation level
- Experience in the travel, logistics, fleet management, security, or professional services industries.
- Experience supporting external audits and coordinating with auditors.
- Working knowledge of ERP or accounting systems such as Xero, Sage, or SAP Business One.
- Experience with multi-entity bookkeeping and inter-company reconciliations.
- Skills in budgeting, variance analysis, management reporting, and financial data analysis.
- Familiarity with M-Pesa for Business, bank reconciliations, and statutory submissions through iTax, NSSF, and SHIF.
