ABOUT THE COMPANY
GIZ, the German Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, provides services in the field of international technical cooperation worldwide. In Kenya, it has been active since 1964, and up to now implements programs in a wide variety of areas, including economic development, green energy and water, governance, food security, and peace and security. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is GIZ’s main commissioning party. However, GIZ as well works closely with the private sector, fostering successful interaction between development policy and foreign trade.
JOB SUMMARY
To manage and oversee GIZ financing agreements, ensuring compliance, financial accountability, and effective contract management and providing guidance and capacity building to grant partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:Manage the full lifecycle of partner financing agreements and subsidies, including due diligence, execution, monitoring, and closure. Conduct commercial suitability and capacity assessments to determine partner eligibility and providing financial and technical guidance during contract preparation. Coordinate with GIZ-Headquarters and the Country Office to ensure timely contract preparation, approval, and follow-up. Maintain a contract monitoring system to track timelines, obligations, disbursements, compliance, and closure of all financing contracts. Conduct trainings and provide mentorship to partners on grant financial management, budgeting, reporting, and compliance. Review partner financial reports and disbursement requests for accuracy and compliance. Support partners in financial documentation, ensuring adherence to GIZ procurement and accounting standards. Assist in internal and external audits, including pre-audit preparation and implementation of recommendations. Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure effective financial and contract management.
Other Duties
Support adherence to project internal controls processes.Monitor application of financial procedures and accountability standards across partner engagements.Where appropriate and reasonable, the position holder will be asked to perform tasks outside the scope of the job description.
Qualifications & Specialist Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or comparable degree Atleast 5 years professional experience in a comparable positionGood working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office) Very good knowledge of the English language Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
