Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manager to join our Finance and Accounting Advisory unit. This role offers an opportunity to work with leading organisations across Africa, supporting finance transformation, technology-enabled change, strategic transactions, and financial reporting excellence.
As a manager, you will lead finance transformation and advisory engagements, helping organisations modernise finance functions, improve processes, leverage technology, and strengthen reporting capabilities.
You will work closely with CFOs, finance leaders, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-impact projects while contributing to business growth and team development.
Key roles and responsibilities
Finance Transformation and Advisory Delivery
- Lead finance transformation initiatives, including ERP implementations, finance process redesign, automation, and data analytics solutions.
- Advise clients on finance operating models, digital transformation strategies, and performance improvement.
- Integrate accounting and reporting requirements, including IFRS and IPSAS, into transformation projects.
- Support capital readiness engagements including IPO readiness, carve-outs, debt/equity offerings, transaction-related finance initiatives, and reporting transformation projects.
- Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, including AI-enabled finance solutions.
Engagements management
- Manage multiple client engagements from planning through delivery.
- Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate key stakeholders.
- Deliver high-quality reports, presentations, and client recommendations.
- Facilitate client workshops, training sessions, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure compliance with KPMG quality, risk, and professional standards.
Business Development
- Support business development by identifying opportunities, writing proposals, assisting in their conversion and client presentations.
- Collaborate with other Business Units to identify cross-functional business opportunities.
- Actively seek opportunities to recommend/sell additional KPMG services to existing and new clients.
- Build an understanding of client businesses and markets to assist in the development of client relationships and developing a commercial mindset on how work performed impacts profitability at the engagement and practice levels.
Client Management and Business Development
- Build and maintain relationships with senior client stakeholders, including CFOs and Finance executives.
- Identify business development opportunities and support proposal development and client presentations.
- Contribute to revenue growth through cross-selling and upselling of services.
- Manage engagement budgets, profitability, and commercial performance.
Team leadership
- Supervise, coach, and develop junior team members.
- Support knowledge sharing, capability building and training initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture and lead by example.
Risk and quality management
- Ensure compliance with professional standards, firm policies, and risk management requirements.
- Maintain robust engagement documentation and quality review processes.
Academic/ Professional qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a related field.
- Professional accountant qualification (CPA, ACCA, Chartered Accountant or equivalent) is required.
- 8 - 10 years of relevant experience in finance transformation, financial advisory, consulting, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience in ERP platforms such as SAP S/4 Hana, Oracle Cloud, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or similar solutions.
- Proven experience in delivering finance transformation programs, and technology-enabled initiatives.
- Experience leading client-facing projects and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will have an added advantage:
- End-to-end finance transformation projects.
- Business development and client origination activities.
Technical competencies & Personal attributes:
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, IFRS, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.
- Strong understanding of data analytics, finance automation, and AI-enabled finance solutions.
