FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Church Pastor and Church Treasurer, the Finance and Administration Officer will support financial management, reporting, compliance, and administrative operations to ensure effective stewardship of resources and smooth day-to-day operations of the Church.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support budgeting, financial planning, and tracking of departmental funds
- Prepare accurate financial reports for Church leadership and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, accounting standards, and internal controls
- Process payroll, statutory deductions, and staff benefits
- Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations, and cashbooks
- Manage collections, payments, and financial documentation
- Support administrative functions including procurement, assets, and facilities
- Coordinate financial reporting, audits, and accountability processes
- Foster effective working relationships across church departments
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- CPA-K (Mandatory)
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in financial/accounting roles
- Experience in a non-profit or church environment is an added advantage
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Sage) or accounting software is required
- Must be a baptized and practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong financial reporting and analytical skills
- Knowledge of IFRS and Kenyan tax regulations
- Proficiency in accounting systems and MS Office
- Demonstrated leadership capability in coordinating tasks, driving accountability, and ensuring timely execution of processes
- High integrity and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Customer-focused with a service-oriented mindset
- Ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Internal: Treasury Department, Church Department Heads, Church Board & Councils, Internal Auditors
- External: Banks, Church Members, External Auditors
