THE OPPORTUNITY
You, the Grants Finance Coordinator will be responsible for supporting effective implementation of the Future4Binti project through the assessment and compliance monitoring of grants systems and processes, analysis of budgets and expenditures, ensuring adherence to all donor and Plan International compliance and policy requirements by capacity strengthening local partners and project team to have a good understanding of grant requirements and agreements for effective project delivery across the project outcomes and submission of financial reports in a timely manner as per donor requirement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting project budget planning and adjustments, monitoring grant performance to identify and address risks, ensuring compliance with donor and organizational financial policies, maintaining accurate grant documentation, and providing budget guidance during proposal development.
A typical week in this role includes regularly producing timely and accurate financial reports, monitoring expenditures and burn-rate, supporting fund liquidation while aligning finances with workplans and project results. Additionally, you’ll be expected to coach project staff to improve financial reporting.
Working closely with partner organizations to improve compliance and financial capacity-building, ensuring budgets and expenditure reports meet standards and deliver value for money.
Play a key role in grant close-out processes, audits, and compliance reviews, while engaging in coordination meetings and field visits to link financial performance with programme outcomes.
On regular basis, document recurring risks and gaps, recommend improvements, and promote transparent, and accountable partnership practices.
Your contribution will support gender-responsive budgeting and monitoring to ensure resources contribute to gender equality and meaningful participation of young women and girls.
Plan International has a robust global policy for Safeguarding and PII policy for Preventing Sexual Harassment Exploitation and Abuse; and Gender Equality and Inclusion principles and Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to your area of responsibility. You will therefore have a responsibility to adhere and enforce adherence of staff and associates within your sphere of responsibility.
You will be trusted to take on additional assignments within the scope of work as assigned by your supervisor on need basis.
What we are looking for:
Someone with a Bachelor’s Degree in either business, social sciences or international development
At least CPA 4 or other equivalent professional qualification in accounting
An individual with at least 4+ years’ experience in grants management or a similar role in INGO, especially in portfolio management and knowledge of major donors’ compliance requirements (DANIDA, USAID, DFID, EU, etc.)
Someone with experience in and is excited to support program/project implementing teams
Someone with problem solving skills, you will be expected to identify and lead the resolution of issues
One with strong communication in English and Kiswahili (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills
