The Accountant – Payables, Asset Accounting, Inventory C Loan Management will be responsible for managing and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in financial accounting processes related to fixed assets, inventory, supplier payables, and loan management. The role will also ensure proper recording, monitoring, and reporting of asset capitalization, depreciation, loan covenants, and cashflow related to financing and operational activities.
Responsibilities
Asset Accounting s Management
- Manage the full cycle of asset accounting—from LPO and invoicing to capitalization and depreciation.
- Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register (FAR) ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper classification.
- Track and monitor Capital Work-in-Progress (CWIP) projects, ensuring timely capitalization upon completion.
- Compute and post depreciation and asset disposals in line with company policy and IFRS requirements.
- Ensure asset verification, tagging, and periodic reconciliation between physical assets and FAR.
- Coordinate with insurance providers to ensure adequate asset insurance coverage and timely renewals.
- Support periodic asset audits and physical verification exercises.
Inventory Accounting s Costing
- Oversee inventory valuation, costing, and reconciliation between physical and book records.
- Review and record all inventory transactions including purchases, issues, adjustments, and transfers.
- Monitor inventory movements to ensure accurate reflection in financial statements.
- Support periodic stock counts and ensure variances are properly investigated and accounted for.
- Ensure proper cost allocation for inventory, overheads, and project materials.
Loan Accounting s Management
- Maintain detailed records of shareholder loans, investor loans (CBE, Mirova), and other financial obligations.
- Record loan drawdowns, interest accruals, repayments, and related charges in compliance with loan agreements.
- Ensure compliance with all loan covenants, ratios, and financial reporting requirements.
- Liaise with lenders and investors for periodic reporting, confirmations, and audit requirements.
- Track and project repayment schedules to ensure timely payments and accurate cashflow forecasting.
Accounts Payable s Supplier Management
- Oversee supplier accounting processes including invoice verification, matching (LPO, GRN, invoice), and posting.
- Ensure timely and accurate supplier payments in line with company credit terms and cashflow priorities.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain up-to-date supplier records and ensure compliance with internal procurement and payment policies.
- Prepare and review aging reports, payment runs, and accruals.
Cashflow Management
- Prepare and monitor short-term and long-term cashflow forecasts, ensuring alignment with operational and loan repayment needs.
- Coordinate with CFO to ensure adequate liquidity for operational and capital requirements.
- Monitor variances between forecasted and actual cashflows and recommend corrective actions.
- Support preparation of management reports and financial analysis related to cashflow, loans, and assets.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from a recognized institution.
Professional Qualification
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) or equivalent is mandatory.
Experience
- Minimum of 6–10 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 3 years in asset and loan accounting roles.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Navision, QuickBooks, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax regulations, and company law.
- Advanced MS Excel and financial modeling skills.
