CDL was founded in early 2003 by its current Managing Director Lucy Mmari.Within her 14 year tenure in a well established logistics company, She honed her skill in human resources management and thereafter started CDL.
Our client, an investment company focused on joint investments for its members through real estate investments, marketable securities, and private equity, is seeking to recruit an experienced and strategic Financial Controller. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, preparing accurate financial reports, and providing financial insights to support decision-making at the Board level.
Responsibilities or duties
- Prepare and present accurate financial reports and management accounts to the Board of Directors
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cash flow management
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and financial reporting requirements
- Manage financial controls, risk management processes, and internal audit functions
- Monitor investment performance and provide financial analysis on real estate, marketable securities, and private equity portfolios
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of tax returns and statutory deductions
- Lead and supervise the finance team to ensure efficient financial operations
- Provide strategic financial recommendations to support business growth and investment decisions
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- CPA(K) qualification or equivalent professional certification
- Must be a member of ICPAK in good standing
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, taxation, and investment accounting
- Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and handle confidential financial information with integrity
Experience needed
- Minimum of 5–10 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting
- Prior experience in real estate investments, marketable securities, or private equity is highly preferred
