Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose relevant correspondences
- Supervise the fire and safety activities
- Develop and present training programs designed to instruct agency personnel in accident prevention and occupational safety techniques.
- Originate and direct fire drills and other simulated emergencies.
- Operating firefighting application and communication equipment.
- Perform specialized functions in preparing and responding to fire and emergency calls in order to prevent and/or minimize loss of life, property or injury as a result of fire
- Respond to emergency calls with utmost speed and efficiency
- Safeguard their own and other people’s safety at all times
- Assist in rescue operation
- Inspect and maintain appliances and equipment and ensuring they are in good condition in accordance with county fire fighting policies and procedures
- Any other related work as may be assigned.
Qualification and Experience:
- A holder of KCSE C – Minus or equivalent
- Be a holder of a firefighting/rescue service certificate or relevant certificate from an institution recognized in Kenya; Certification as a Fire Officer or Fire Instructor is preferred.
- Have a First Aid Certificate from a recognized institution.
- Have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in fire-fighting and operation of fire-fighting equipment of which, two (2) years are in a supervisory position.
- Former members of the disciplined forces and the NYS who have undergone firefighting training or ex-fire fighters will have an added advantage.
- Computer literate.
- Valid Police Clearance Certificate
