Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose relevant correspondences
  • Supervise the fire and safety activities
  • Develop and present training programs designed to instruct agency personnel in accident prevention and occupational safety techniques.
  • Originate and direct fire drills and other simulated emergencies.
  • Operating firefighting application and communication equipment.
  • Perform specialized functions in preparing and responding to fire and emergency calls in order to prevent and/or minimize loss of life, property or injury as a result of fire
  • Respond to emergency calls with utmost speed and efficiency
  • Safeguard their own and other people’s safety at all times
  • Assist in rescue operation
  • Inspect and maintain appliances and equipment and ensuring they are in good condition in accordance with county fire fighting policies and procedures
  • Any other related work as may be assigned.

Qualification and Experience:

  • A holder of KCSE C – Minus or equivalent
  • Be a holder of a firefighting/rescue service certificate or relevant certificate from an institution recognized in Kenya; Certification as a Fire Officer or Fire Instructor is preferred.
  • Have a First Aid Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in fire-fighting and operation of fire-fighting equipment of which, two (2) years are in a supervisory position.
  • Former members of the disciplined forces and the NYS who have undergone firefighting training or ex-fire fighters will have an added advantage.
  • Computer literate.
  • Valid Police Clearance Certificate
