Role Summary
The Fund Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Kenya Conservancies Fund (KCF), ensuring effective resource mobilisation, grant management, and financial stewardship. The role is responsible for overseeing the full grant lifecycle, strengthening donor relationships, and ensuring that the Fund delivers measurable conservation and community impact while transitioning into a sustainable revolving fund model.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or similar qualification in Finance, Conservation, Natural resource Management or a related discipline.
- Master’s Degree in any related field is an advantage
- Project management qualification
Relevant Skills & Experience
- At least eight (8) years of proven experience in leading strategic fundraising activities within a donor funded environment while managing various funds and portfolios.
- Demonstrable experience in managing a fund from a wide range of donors, including Trusts and Foundations, Corporates, and government donors
- Knowledge of conservation activities in Kenya / East Africa.
- Proficiency in financial management with the ability to oversight budgets, tracking expenditures, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication with ability to craft compelling proposals, reports, and presentations to stakeholders and potential donors
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, government agencies, and other stakeholders
- Ability to develop strategic plans that align fundraising efforts with the organization’s mission
- Excellent planning and coordination with demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Self-motivated, independent and resourceful
- Ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to staff members and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Influential within the fund management sphere with the ability to bring together stakeholders.
