To support the maintenance and enhancement of the school’s environment through skilled gardening and painting work, while also offering transport assistance as a school bus conductor and contributing to event support activities under the Facility Manager’s direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Painting Duties
  • Perform professional interior and exterior painting on surfaces like wood, plaster, drywall, steel, and brick.
  • Patch, prime, and finish painted areas in classrooms, offices, walls, furniture, and fixtures.
  • Prepare work areas properly, including moving furniture or covering items to prevent paint damage.
  • Restore all painting sites to their original condition upon completion.
  • Assist with cost estimation and accurate paint/material usage records.
  • Maintain painting tools and recommend replacements when necessary.
  • Gardening Duties
  • Flowerbeds & General Areas
  • Prune, weed, water, and fertilize flowerbeds, hedges, trees, and shrubs.
  • Renovate and reorganize garden layouts using existing or new plant material.
  • Apply organic herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers responsibly to control pests and promote healthy plant growth.
  • Collect dry twigs and maintain safe, clean walkways.
  • Lawn Care
  • Mow lawns regularly and trim edges to maintain a neat appearance.
  • Water and topdress lawns with a mixture of red soil, fertilizer, and manure annually.
  • Replant patchy or bare areas and ensure proper watering and pest control.
  • Weed lawns to ensure healthy turf growth
  • General Compound Work
  • Sweep driveways, parking lots, and common outdoor areas.
  • Collect garden trash and debris for proper disposal.
  • Wear protective gear and adhere to all school safety and hygiene standards.
  • Conductor / Transport Support Duties
  • Ensure Kindergarten children board the correct bus and are safely handed over to parents/guardians.
  • Ensure all students wear seatbelts and remain seated during transportation.
  • Maintain discipline and passenger safety on school buses.
  • Report misconduct or any concerning behavior to the Transport Manager.
  • Encourage cleanliness on buses by discouraging littering.
  • Support the Transport Manager and drivers during school trips or event-related movements.
  • Event and Operational Support
  • Assist with physical setup and takedown for school events, functions, or community activities.
  • Provide logistical support for deliveries, outdoor events, and after-hours duties as required.
  • Work in a role that combines creativity, hands-on service, and community impact.

Qualifications, skills and expectations:

  • Certificate or vocational training in painting, horticulture, or facilities management.
  • At least 3 years of experience in both painting and gardening roles.
  • Experience in child-safety handling or transport support is an added advantage.
  • Skilled in tool use, landscaping machinery, and safe chemical application.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and proactive work ethic.
  • Physically fit and capable of multitasking across departments.
  • Excellent communication in English and Kiswahili.
  • Must be flexible, collaborative, and service-oriented.
