General Manager, Procurement
Job Purpose
To lead the Bank's procurement function, ensuring goods and services are sourced at the best value and in compliance with the Bank's procurement policy.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Aspects
Development of sound and cost-effective strategies for purchasing goods and services used by the Bank.
Stakeholder management, including but not limited to the following:
- maintaining good relationships with key suppliers of the Bank.
- internal engagements to improve the match between user needs and quality standards/specifications.
- engagements with other industry players for benchmarking and best practices.
Business Aspects
Align the procurement plans to the overall strategy of the Bank.
Preparation of, and adherence to, service level agreements with user departments.
Planning & Control
Carry out KYC review for all material suppliers of the Bank.
Develop risk management procedures to mitigate losses arising from the performance of suppliers.
In conjunction with the Legal department, review all material supplier contracts to ensure that the terms and conditions are favourable to the Bank.
Carry out periodic supplier performance evaluation.
Perform secretariat functions of the Procurement Committee.
Provide leadership to the procurement team.

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement & Supplies Chain Management; or
- Business related degree and a Diploma in Procurement & Supplies Chain Management.
- Membership of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management is a mandatory requirement
Experience
5 years of progressive experience in a procurement function and not less than 2 years in a supervisory role.
