We are seeking an experienced, commercially astute, and entrepreneurial General Manager to lead the next phase of growth of this business.

The Role

The General Manager – Maiyan Residences will have overall responsibility for the residential development and sales business across the Maiyan and Swara Ranch brands.

This is a senior leadership role focused on:

? Residential development execution

? Commercial performance

? Product development

? Sales and marketing oversight

? Estate standards and customer experience

? Financial performance and profitability

? Team leadership and operational oversight

The successful candidate will oversee the various functional heads responsible for development, project execution, sales, marketing, estate operations, and customer engagement.

While the role will work closely with the hospitality leadership teams to ensure alignment of the broader ecosystem and customer journey, this is not a hospitality operations role.

The role offers the opportunity to help scale an integrated residential and lifestyle development platform across multiple product categories in one of Kenya’s most unique and internationally recognized destinations.

? The role is based in Nanyuki / Laikipia.

Key Responsibilities

Business & P&L Leadership

? Lead and grow the Maiyan Residences business unit.

? Take overall responsibility for the commercial and financial performance of the residential business.

? Drive profitability, inventory conversion, collections, and return on investment.

? Prepare and oversee business plans, project feasibility assessments, budgets, and performance reporting.

Development Leadership

? Oversee the end-to-end delivery of residential and infrastructure projects from concept to completion.

? Coordinate consultants, contractors, project managers, architects, engineers, and technical teams.

? Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.

? Monitor development budgets, timelines, project risks, approvals, and implementation progress.

Financing & Capital Engagement

? Engage with banks, financial institutions, investors, and other funding partners on project financing and capital structuring.

? Support the preparation of development appraisals, financing proposals, and project investment cases.

? Oversee project cash flow management and development funding requirements.

Commercial Oversight

? Provide leadership and oversight to the sales and marketing functions responsible for:

? Drive the commercialization and monetization of residential developments across multiple product categories.

? Ensure products remain aligned with evolving market demand and customer preferences.

? Work closely with technical and commercial teams to optimize product-market fit and customer experience.

Estate & Customer Experience Oversight

? Oversee estate standards, customer experience, and long-term value preservation across the residential developments.

? Ensure developments maintain strong community standards and a high-quality living environment.

? Support homeowner engagement and long-term estate value enhancement.

Cross-Functional Coordination

? Work closely with the General Managers of Maiyan Luxury Resort and Swara Ranch Hospitality to ensure alignment between the residential and hospitality ecosystems.

? Support integrated lifestyle offerings while maintaining clear operational distinction between the residential and hospitality businesses.

Team Leadership

? Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams across development, commercial, estate, and customer engagement functions.

? Build a culture of accountability, execution excellence, and customer focus.

Qualifications & Experience

? Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or a related field.

? A Master’s degree or relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.

? Minimum of 10 years’ experience in residential real estate development or property development.

? Proven experience having successfully delivered residential developments from concept to completion.

? Demonstrated P&L management experience within a real estate or development business.

? Experience engaging with financial institutions and investors to secure development financing.

? Strong technical understanding of residential development and construction processes.

? Strong commercial acumen and understanding of development economics.

? Demonstrated experience in the commercialization and monetization of residential developments, including sales strategy, inventory conversion, and customer engagement.

? Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and departments.

? Experience in integrated lifestyle, mixed-use, hospitality-adjacent, or destination developments will be an added advantage.

? International sales or international real estate marketing experience will be an added advantage, given the global profile and award-winning positioning of the destination.
