The role holder has overall operational responsibility to the CEO for all components and departments of a business, general management of, and control over, the businesses, activities and other affairs of the business in accordance with the policies, strategies and mandates established by the Board.
Key Responsibilities (Key Result Areas)
Strategic:
- With direction from the CEO lead implementation of the strategic plans for the business sustainability and growth.
- Lead the process in communicating and implementing the organization’s vision, mission, and overall direction.
- Analyze daily operations to evaluate performance of the business and its resources in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, operations/product or service improvement, or policy change.
- Plan, or implement policies, objectives, or activities of organizations or businesses to ensure continuing operations, to maximize returns on investments, or to increase productivity.
Leadership & Operational
- Lead the team and operations of the business within the parameters agreed with and established by the CEO by overseeing implementation of operational plans and polices;
- Foster a corporate culture that promotes the highest ethical practices and encourages individual integrity and living of the companys values.
- Establish departmental responsibilities within the organization and oversee functional operations of the departments in liaison with the functional heads.
- Oversee multiple business unit operations which includes sales, growth and profitability as well as cost control.
- Ensure the business complies with all applicable laws and regulations and achieves and maintains a high standard for its facilities and services.
- Monitor the business s operations in a manner that ensures its assets and resources are safeguarded and optimized.
- Review reports submitted by functional heads and or staff members for approval and or recommend/suggest changes.
- Lead in implementation and achievement of operational plans and other supporting initiatives within approved budgets.
Sales and Marketing
- With direction from the CEO ensure the implementation of innovative and creative strategic sales and marketing plans with a focus on driving business growth and meeting and / or exceeding client expectations.
- Monitor the companys progress in achieving revenue and booking targets projected in the plans and in liaison with the Head of Sales and Marketing mentor or support the sales team to ensure that the set targets are achievable.
- Provides support and credibility to sales and marketing initiatives by supporting and participating in the negotiation process with key major local or international clients.
- Meet key clients (Top 10) regularly to establish a rapport with them with an aim to ensure client retention.
Budgeting and Reporting
- Recommend to the BOD for approval the annual operational and proposed capital budgets, the levels of authority on expenditures against the annual budgets and capital plans, leases and other actions or transactions.
- Lead the management team in preparation and presentation of reports concerning business operations, financials and expenses, budgets, future business plans to the CEO.
- Keep the CEO apprised of material issues that may affect the business s ability to achieve the operational and financial objectives set out in the strategic and business plans.
- Coordinate and approve the business financial or budget activities in liaison with the Commercial Financial Controller to fund operations, maximize investments or increase efficiency.
Financial and Risk Management
- Together with the management team identify and report to the Board, principal risks of the business and ensure the implementation of systems to mitigate these risks.
- Together with the management team ensures the development and implementation of appropriate financial and administrative systems to ensure the efficient utilization of the financial resources, the effective safeguards of assets, and the achievement of annual financial goals and objectives.
- In liaison with the Commercial Financial Controller ensures that authorities for expenditures and other responsibilities are established.
- Together with the management team it ensures that the business has the ability to respond effectively and efficiently to all reporting requirements and requests by the regulatory authorities as may be required.
- Ensure optimum usage of acquired/existing software/ERPs to the benefit of the company
Human Resources
- In liaison with the Head of HR/HR Manager develop and recommend to the CEO for approval the overall organizational structure and optimum staffing levels that is appropriate in terms of accomplishing the businesss goals and objectives.
- Together with the Head of HR/HR Manager direct human resources activities, including seeking approval of the annual human resource budgets and human resource operational plans.
- Recommend appointment of functional/department heads or managers and assigning or delegating responsibilities.
- Together with the Head of HR/HR Manager establish and maintain a Board approved annual plan for Talent management & development, succession, and retention plans including identification of key talents.
- Fosters and drives a system of direction and motivation of staff and a system of measurement of employee performance to ensure the accomplishment of the businesss goals and objectives.
- Together with the Head of HR/HR Manager ensure that progressive policies and programs are established that meet the needs of employees, enable the business to attract and retain quality staff, and capitalizes on the full potential of its human resources.
- Spearhead a performance driven culture.
- Establish and chair the health & safety committee and submit a quarterly report to the BOD.
Stakeholder Management
- As directed by the CEO acts as the primary spokesperson for the business and oversee communication channels interfaces with key clients and stakeholders.
- Upon approval, oversee implementation of a communications program to support the business s strategic objectives and product/brand awareness.
- Maintain strong working relationships with key decision-makers in major client organization.
- Ensure that the client expectations and their perspectives on product or service are understood throughout the business.
- Establish good relations with the community in which your operate by seeking approvals for CSR projects.
Essential Qualifications,
- Degree and or equivalent or higher qualification in Business Management, Finance and or Economics and or related business field.
- Must have knowledge in use of a business software and systems
- Knowledge of ISO Management systems would be an added advantage
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience leading a multicultural business at a similar or senior management level with proven track record of strategy implementation and business growth.
- Minimum 5 years experience in various industries i.e. manufacturing, retail, distribution and related industries.

- Proven track record of achievements under the Key responsibilities.
