Description
Job Purpose:
The General Manager –Business Process Audits is responsible for managing internal audit assignments in accordance with the Approved Annual Audit plan. The jobholder will be responsible for execution of the Audit strategy through identification and reporting on all significant control weaknesses, through the application of a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes within the Group.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Audit Planning and Execution:
- Assist in the development and implementation of a risk-based annual internal audit plan aligned with the organization's strategic objectives and risk profile.
- Allocate assignments under the internal audit plan to respective audit teams in liaison with the Head of Audit - Business Process, Quality and Reporting
- Conduct risk assessments to identify and prioritize areas of potential risk across the organization.
- Manage various audit engagements, including operational audits, financial audits, and compliance audits
- Ensure that audits are conducted in accordance with professional standards and best practices, such as the Global Internal Audit Standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes, and governance mechanisms.
2. Audit Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports, highlighting significant findings, recommendations, trends and potential areas for improvement.
- Present audit reports and findings to senior management, and relevant stakeholders.
3. Risk Assessment and Advisory:
- Provide advisory services and consultative support to management on governance, risk management, control-related matters, and process improvements.
- Participate in strategic initiatives, project teams, or working groups to offer insights and recommendations from an internal audit perspective.
- Provide insights in the development and implementation of new policies, procedures, or controls to enhance organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
4. Continuous Learning and Development:
- Stay updated with emerging risks, regulatory changes, and industry best practices related to the financial services industry.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance technical and auditing skills.
- Contribute to the improvement of audit methodologies and procedures within the team.
5. Audit Administration:
- Review of draft subsidiary Board Audit Committee papers in liaison with the Head of Audit - Business Process, Quality and Reporting.
- Document/ update audit policies and procedures for review by Head of Audit - Business Process, Quality and Reporting before cascading to the subsidiaries
- Provide guidance to Subsidiary Internal Audit functions on the interpretation and implementation of Group Audit Policies
- Carry out performance evaluation, motivation, training and development of the audit team ensuring quality standards are upheld. The Senior Manager will ensure that staff are appraised (at least quarterly) and the results discussed with the Chief Internal Auditor
- Ensure that the audit strategic initiatives are cascaded to teams and implemented as per the timelines provided.
6. Stakeholder Management:
- Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with external auditors, regulatory authorities, and other assurance providers to ensure effective coordination and avoid duplication of efforts.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, business administration, Business IT or related field.
- Professional certifications in CPA (K), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or their equivalent, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) are preferred.
- At least 10 years internal or external audit experience gained from reputable institutions, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Proficiency in use of MS Office applications.
- Proficiency with audit analytics software, Idea, ACL etc.
- Proficiency in use of MS Office applications and audit software seg teammate, Audit Bond etc.
Competencies
- Strong understanding of risk management principles, internal control frameworks, and corporate governance practices.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present findings and recommendations to various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple audit engagements simultaneously.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, audit management software, and advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry-specific requirements applicable to the financial sector.
- Ability to maintain objectivity, independence, and confidentiality in carrying out audit activities.
- Experience in providing advisory services and consultative support to management is preferred.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Knowledge and experience in data analytics techniques and tools, such statistical analysis, and data visualization.
