Background

St. Luke’s Orthopaedic and Trauma Hospital is an ultra-modern hospital started in the year 2012, after operating as a clinic and an orthopaedics supplier since year 2005.

Job Purpose

The overall purpose of this job is to oversee patient care both outpatient and inpatient and ensure continuity of care in line with established protocols and the hospital’s patient care objectives.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain accurate, complete healthcare reports and records for all patients.
  • Administer medications to patients and monitor them for side effects and reactions.
  • Record patients’ vital signs and medical information.
  • Monitor, report and record patients’ progress, symptoms or changes in patient conditions.
  • Order and evaluate diagnostic tests in liaison with doctors to identify and assess patient’s condition.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
  • Assess and plan nursing care requirements including treatment plans, operating medical equipment.
  • Treat medical emergencies, such as heart attacks, strokes, car accidents and burns as well as recover post-operative patients.
  • Plan and conduct community health activities.
  • Conduct minor theatre procedures as per your license and Nursing Council guidelines.
  • Bill patients for all services given.
  • Ensure that ventilators, monitors and other types of medical equipment are in good working condition.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN) or Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN).
  • Basic Life Support /Advanced Cardiac Life Support and any other specialty certification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ continuous nursing experience in a busy Level 5 hospital
  • Valid practicing license.
  • Excellent customer care, communication and public relations skills.
  • Professional, friendly attitude.
