Background

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an agency for international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work. GIZ has a federal mandate and supports the German Government in achieving its development-policy objectives. GIZ also works for other public and private sector clients in Germany and abroad. These include governments of other countries, multilateral organizations, foundations and companies.

Responsibilities

The Global Compact Network Germany is looking for a Global Compact Advisor to support its work in Kenya. The advisor will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to promote the UN Global Compact in Kenya.
  • Engaging with businesses, civil society organizations, and government stakeholders to raise awareness and encourage participation in the Global Compact.
  • Organizing events, workshops, and training sessions on sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
  • Providing advice and support to companies on their sustainability journey and reporting.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of the Global Compact initiatives in Kenya.
  • Contributing to the development of communication materials and reports.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as international development, business administration, sustainability, or social sciences.
  • Proven experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and event organization.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability issues, corporate social responsibility, and the UN Global Compact.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili.
  • Experience working in Kenya or East Africa is an advantage.

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.

Additional Information

This is a full-time position based in Nairobi, Kenya. The contract duration is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension.
