Key Responsibilities:
The role, located in the East Africa regional office, intends to influence development and use of needs-based research, innovation for knowledge building, generation and sharing by building the capacity of young professionals following on intentional capacity building and coaching sessions, integrated with their journey in Christianity. The role shall work closely with the Strategy and Programme Quality directorate in collaboration with other unit team members and other functional leads, groups to support in the implementation and tracking of the partnership/regional office learning agenda. The role shall support, in re-designing and updating the World Vision International intranet (WV central) with up-to-date communications, impact and strategic information; tracking the implementation of Box project for timely document updates that would ensure ease of access and collaboration within (and across) teams.
The role will work closely with the CHILD Advisory committee in coordinating and ensuring implementation of the CHILD research agenda, generation of timely analysis on research themes (desired topics), linkage with research institutions enabling learning and agility in program effectiveness. Such information will be used in the development of proposals, publications and data driven evidence for sharing impact, decision and influence by the organization.
This internship is a 12 months’ talent incubation programme aiming to give young Christian graduates real work experience, personal, spiritual and professional development through on- job mentorship and coaching.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Support Research and learning
- Support mapping of NO and regional researches in line with Research Agenda and Plans
- Support coordination of research projects and programs and RO based research projects.
- Support to build and manage partnerships with universities and research institutions for joint research projects and publications.
- Support the development of summary research findings with the related offices and/or units
- Review research and learning reports for quality and compliance to set standards
- Conduct research on various topics and subjects as assigned including in providing data on indicators of interest
- Document research recommendations and track their implementation enabling agility in programming
- Provide technical support for quality research where appropriate
- Support in packaging learning information and publications
- Support quality documentation of regional learning forums
- Support review, updating and tracking Knowledge Management platforms
Facilitate knowledge identification, consolidation, documentation and storage.
- Provide technical support in content development in the Strategy and Programme Quality and other departments
- Support in the review of files and resources updated in Knowledge Management platforms, ensuring their quality and usability.
- Collaborate with Knowledge Management Champions in updating resources on related KM platforms
- Support the design and review of the Knowledge Management site (i.e., in wvcentral)
- Track the implementation of Knowledge Management in line with the Critical to Quality framework
- Support in setting up and managing Box folder structures and naming in compliance to the WVI EARO Knowledge Management Protocol
Learning and Innovation
- Support in the synthesis and documentation of valuable insights and to establish regional learning agenda
- Support the creation and establishment of sharing and learning exchange platfoms to promote best practices and lessons learned.
- Help develop how the regional functional teams consolidate, organises, and shares the learning and insights
- In collaboration with the Data analytics support develop and maintain a regional inventory of innovations, methods and tools, idea management systems, idea generation methods and internal networking initiatives for influence, income and impact
- Work closely with the Global Office and National Office colleagues to review and adapt innovations, systems and processes to support project implementation.
Support capacity building
- Collaborate to build field level capacity on quality research as appropriate
- Provide technical support in the use of Box and other Knowledge Management platforms including WV central, MS Teams, and OneDrive amongst others in collaboration with IT
- Support staff orientation on the use of KM platforms
Others
- Adherence to Ethical and Regulatory Standards: Following ethical guidelines, ensuring research practices align with established standards and regulations.
- Perform any other duty as may be assigned by supervisor or designee from time to time
- Participate and contribute in committees and task forces as may be signed from time to time
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Bachelor’s degree in research related courses including but not limited to: Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Project Management or in any related field of study.
- Demonstrate ability to integrating Faith and development in work and life
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in research related courses including but not limited to: Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Project Management or in any related field of study.
- Demonstrate ability to integrating Faith and development in work and life
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be well respected in society for Christian values and professionalism.
- Good knowledge and commitment to WV’s ethos, philosophy of work and CORE documents.
- Demonstrated Leadership skills evidenced by previous leadership roles in a church, Christian Union and/or para church organization.
- Must possess sound biblical beliefs.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English/ Swahili
- Graduated with the past 2 years
- Office based environment with minimal travel to the field
OTHER QUALITIFCATIONS
- Strong organizational skills, independent judgment, and the ability to be flexible as the demands and priorities change.
- Commitment to continuous learning and willingness to keep abreast of new developments in the field of development.
- Strong interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
- Graduates who are practicing Christians from bible believing and recognized church or fellowship.
- Graduates who are willing to commit their time on the program for the entire year.
