Rafiki Wa Maendeleo Trust (RWMT) is a non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of vulnerable youth and communities through education, health, and economic empowerment programs. We seek a competent and results-driven Grants Accountant to strengthen our financial management and ensure full donor compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate project financial records (ledgers, journals, petty cash, bank books).
  • Monitor grant expenditures and ensure compliance with approved donor budgets.
  • Prepare monthly donor financial reports and budget vs. actual analyses.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and maintain supplier/debtor accounts.
  • Support proposal budget preparation and cash flow projections.
  • Ensure timely statutory deductions and maintain Fixed Asset Register.
  • Prepare for project audits and uphold strong internal controls.
  • Support procurement and inventory compliance for donor-funded projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA K or ACCA qualification preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in NGO grants accounting.
  • Experience managing donor-funded projects and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).
  • Strong understanding of Kenyan statutory and financial compliance requirements.
