JOB DETAILS:

Job Summary:
TechnoServe seeks an experienced Grants Senior Manager for an anticipated food systems development program in Kenya. The Grants Senior Manager will manage the administration of grants and the related procurement processes. S/he will lead the design of a Grants Manual and develop criteria for recipients of grants. S/he will also monitor the performance of sub-awardees and compliance, including conducting monitoring visits. The Senior Manager will provide technical assistance to sub-awardees to support their compliance and optimal performance.

Basic Qualifications

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law or other relevant field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
2. At least 7 years’ professional experience in grants or contracts management for a large-scale, complex international development assistance program. 10 years’ experience for Bachelor’s degree.
3. Proven experience making recommendations on the scope, duration and amount of grants.
4. Demonstrated ability to analyze grantee reports for compliance and make recommendations to strengthen performance.
5. Knowledge of USAID grant regulations would be beneficial.
6. Strong project management skills including the ability to anticipate demand and manage multiple tasks and projects while meeting tight deadlines.
7. Prior work experience in countries in East Africa. Experience working in Kenya strongly preferred.
8. Excellent oral and written presentation skills and good computer skills in business software (Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in a grant management role for a program using a market systems development approach.
2. Previous experience working with USAID.
3. Proficiency in Kiswahili preferred.

Required Languages
1. Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills required.

1. Understanding of capacities and constraints of smallholder farming and agribusiness development.
2. Strong private sector market orientation, entrepreneurial and innovative thinker.
3. Results-oriented, with demonstrated experience achieving project targets.
4. Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
5. Detail orientation, including strong organizational, analytical and quantitative skills.
6. Proven ability to prioritize and manage a high-volume workflow, with minimal supervision.
7. Proven team player with strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
8. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other administrative applications.
