JOB DETAILS:

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Ensure all machines/equipment are running optimally and regularly serviced and repaired, monitoring utilities consumption, maintaining minimum stock levels, planning and execution of preventive maintenance, duty allocation and hatching day-old chicks as per breed standards through best practices in incubation management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Planning and execution of a preventive maintenance schedule ensuring all hatchery machines/equipment are serviced as per schedule and running optimally, with a target mean time between failures of 3 months
2. Incubation management-monitoring, recording, profiling and calibration ensuring 100% hatch to breed standard
3. Utilities monitoring-ensuring minimal wastage of water, power, and fuel through regular monitoring of utilities usage and taking corrective actions immediately
4. Planning and overseeing premise, and compound facilities (electric fence, manholes and septic tanks etc)
5. Spares inventory-control ordering and usage of spares, ensuring a minimum stock level is maintained
6. Training, coaching and motivating maintenance personnel
7. Budget and implement maintenance section’s budget
8. Compliance-ensuring compliance to local/national regulatory requirements

CANDIDATES PROFILE:
a. A bachelor’s degree in electrical or Mechatronics engineering. An Electrical Diploma with experience is ALSO acceptable.
b. At least 3 years’ experience in a production environment
c. Knowledge of incubation management is desirable and an added advantage
d. Experience in a Hatchery operation is desirable and an added advantage
e. Must have worked with teams and demonstrated leadership ability.
