Are you an HR professional with experience managing employee leave programs and navigating complex employment regulations? We're seeking a Leave of Absence Specialist to join our team and support employees and clients through the leave management process across multiple states.

About the Role

As a Leave of Absence Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating and administering employee leave programs while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies. You'll partner closely with employees, managers, HR teams, and third-party stakeholders to deliver exceptional service and accurate leave administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all types of employee leave cases, ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state leave laws.
  • Guide employees and managers through the leave of absence process, explaining policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements.
  • Evaluate leave eligibility and review medical certifications within required timelines.
  • Maintain accurate leave records and documentation within HRIS systems.
  • Provide timely communications, notifications, forms, and leave-related documentation throughout the leave lifecycle.
  • Track leave usage and ensure employees remain within approved leave entitlements.
  • Partner with HR teams, managers, and employees to address leave-related inquiries and escalations.
  • Coordinate FMLA and state-mandated leave administration.
  • Conduct investigations and gather information related to leave concerns, including potential misuse or compliance issues.
  • Meet departmental productivity and service-level standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably in Leave of Absence Administration.
  • Experience with FMLA, ADA, state leave programs, disability management, workers' compensation, benefits administration, healthcare, payroll, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and multi-state employment and leave regulations.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
