About the Role
Our client in the construction sector is seeking an experienced and strategic HSE and Safeguarding Officer to oversee health, safety, safeguarding, and sustainability across operations. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with regulations, fostering a culture of safety and accountability, and driving sustainability initiatives that enhance resilience and long-term impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and monitor safety audits across facilities, training programs, and projects.
- Develop, implement, and enforce safeguarding policies and reporting systems.
- Lead emergency preparedness planning and medical response coordination.
- Drive sustainability initiatives in energy, waste management, and material reuse.
- Ensure compliance with HSE, safeguarding, and environmental regulations; prepare for internal and external audits.
- Deliver training and awareness programs on safety, safeguarding, and emergency response.
- Prepare reports and dashboards for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Mentor, guide, and build capacity within the HSE team.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Public Health, Engineering, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001/14001, or Safeguarding are preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in HSE, safeguarding, and sustainability, ideally in training, construction, or project-based organizations.
- Strong background in audits, compliance management, safeguarding investigations, and policy implementation.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage crises, and engage stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
