Responsibilities or duties

Develop and execute funding and investment strategies for the mortgage portfolio, including REITs, bonds, blended finance, tenant purchase schemes, security-based lending structures, and other innovative financing models.

Lead capital raising initiatives and establish strategic funding partnerships to support sustainable growth of the mortgage business.

Drive the development and implementation of affordable housing financing and delivery solutions across public and private sector developments.

Structure, evaluate, and monitor real estate investments and development projects, ensuring commercial viability and effective risk management.

Manage a portfolio of projects, providing leadership in project planning, execution, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder management.

Monitor housing market trends, policy developments, and emerging opportunities to inform business strategy and investment decisions.

Provide leadership to multidisciplinary technical teams responsible for project management, valuation, construction, and real estate advisory services.

Develop and implement policies, frameworks, and risk management strategies that support housing and property-related investments.

Build and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, county governments, investors, development partners, and other key stakeholders within the housing ecosystem.

Provide expert advice and strategic insights to senior management on housing development, real estate investment, funding strategies, and market opportunities.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Quantity Surveying, Building Economics, Construction Management, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Professional certification in Project Management, Real Estate Finance, Sustainability/Green Finance, Fundraising, Capital Raising, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s Degree (MBA, MSc, MA, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.

Experience needed

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience, including at least 5 years in affordable housing, real estate development, project management, housing finance, investment management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in capital raising, transaction structuring, real estate funding, or development finance.
  • Demonstrated success in portfolio management, business development, and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of affordable housing programmes, housing finance, real estate markets, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Kenyan housing sector, including market, economic, social, and demographic trends.
  • Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, communication, and strategic leadership skills.
