Role Summary:

We are seeking a creative and dedicated Head Chef to lead the culinary team at Shompole Camp. You will be responsible for crafting exceptional dining experiences that reflect the beauty of the surroundings, using fresh, high-quality ingredients while managing kitchen operations in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and prepare innovative, seasonal menus that cater to diverse guest preferences, including dietary requirements and bush dining experiences.
  • Lead, train, and manage the kitchen team, including the Sous Chef, to maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Manage all aspects of kitchen operations, including food ordering, stock control, and budgeting, considering the challenges of a remote location.
  • Ensure impeccable hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards are maintained at all times.
  • Work closely with the Lodge Manager to ensure a seamless and memorable guest experience.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a high-end, remote safari lodge.
  • A passion for creating exceptional food using fresh ingredients, often with logistical constraints.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and menu-planning skills.
  • A deep understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
