HEAD CHEF

Job Summary

The Head Chef will oversee all food preparation and kitchen operations, ensuring that students and staff receive nutritious, safe, and high-quality meals. The role involves managing kitchen staff, menus, supplies, hygiene standards, and daily food-service operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee daily meal preparation and food production.
• Develop nutritious and balanced menus suitable for a school environment.
• Supervise, train, and coordinate kitchen staff.
• Ensure food is prepared and served according to required quality and hygiene standards.
• Monitor food portions, presentation, and consistency.
• Manage kitchen stock, ingredients, and supplies.
• Monitor food costs and minimise wastage.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of food.
• Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and sanitation.
• Ensure compliance with food-safety and health requirements.
• Coordinate meal-service schedules with school management.
• Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance requirements.
• Maintain appropriate kitchen and food-service records.

Ideal Candidate

• Professional culinary training or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience as a Head Chef or senior chef, preferably in a school, hotel, institution, or large-scale catering environment.
• Strong leadership and team-management skills.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, nutrition, and kitchen operations.
• Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy institutional environment.
