Position scope

Reporting to the Group Head, Corporate Affairs, the successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing the company’s corporate publicity and providing timely communication on events and issues.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing KTDA’s Corporate image, stakeholder’s relationship media and internal communication.
  • Develop and implement KTDA’s corporate communication strategy.
  • Align communication initiatives with KTDA’s strategic plan.
  • Position KTDA as the leading tea value chain organization
  • Protect and strengthen KTDA’s corporate image.
  • Monitor public perception of KTDA.
  • Develop and manage a vibrant crisis communication plans.
  • Coordinate CEO communication.
  • Promote employee engagement through communication initiatives.
  • Develop communication programmes targeting the various stake holders e.g. Tea Farmers County Governments, Regulators among others.
  • Develop and enforce KTDA brand standards.
  • Manage corporate publications and Provide leadership in Website management, Social media strategy, Digital campaigns and Online reputation management
  • Developing print materials and branding strategies for employee use;
  • Coaching and directing communication staff.
  • Developing and distributing materials that may explain or convey the company’s policies or position on issues
  • Preparing budgets and ensuring proper control

Qualifications/Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communication, Journalism or any other related field;
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in Communication, Journalism or Public Relations with at least 4 years at the management level;
  • Member of PRSK
  • Must have demonstrated ability to handle departmental budgets, resources, processes, projects and relationships
  • Should have thorough knowledge of the relevant industry/sector as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting the relevant sector
  • Must have ability to plan, organize, implement and evaluate departmental goals
  • Must demonstrate ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities, and work under strict deadlines.
  • Should have strong analytical skills and be result oriented
  • Must have high standards of integrity and ethical practice
  • Must be capable of functioning effectively both as a team player and a team leader
  • Must have management and Leadership skills
  • Must have ability to accurately plan work assignments, prioritize tasks and deliver deadlines
  • Should have problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Should be an effective communicator with the ability to handle both internal and external communication
  • Should demonstrate ability to identify and respond to risk areas within the department
  • Should have effective people management and conflict resolution skills
  • Must have knowledge in use of MS office packages
